On August 12, I was heading up to Orlando to dog-sit for Amanda and Nate and was in a pretty serious car accident on I-4. The guy next to me started coming over into my lane and as I tried to get out of his way but not run off the road, I ended up losing control of my car and slamming into his car at a perpendicular angle, which caused his car to flip (a few times). I was very, very fortunate to walk away from that accident very shaken, but not seriously harmed. In the time that's followed the accident, I've kept thinking about the line in my patriarchal blessing where I was promised to be blessed with good health and to be free from harm or accident. I'm SO grateful for my entire patriarchal blessing, but lately that's been such a comfort to draw on...especially in the time that's followed the accident where I feel a little extra jumpy behind the wheel of a car. To add to all of the excitement around the car situation, I just got a letter in the mail on Saturday from an attorney that the other people in the accident hired to try to sue my insurance company...and, if they don't get "full cooperation" from my insurance company, they'll have "no choice" but to go after me. Well, guess what...on Monday, I got my deductible reimbursement check from State Farm (their insurance company) because they'd accepted liability. Fortunately for me...there's no case for the other people to try to come after anybody!
Exactly a week after my accident, I had to go to the ER to get a cyst on my tailbone taken care of...I know, I'm sorry...too much information. I've had to go back to the ER twice since then to get them to help me with it...the second time I went, they ordered me to take a few days off work so that I could rest and recover. I'm glad that I took the time so that my body could heal, but because I had to take that time off, I won't be able to go see Niels in Washington this weekend...which I'm REALLY sad about. We've been talking about me coming out there to visit ever since he moved there...and it was SO close this time. I had a standby reservation all ready to go and everything! :( But, on the bright side, we're hoping to get it together and see each other in the next month or two, which will be really good.
This past Saturday, my friend, Tanya and I went out to Tarpon Springs so I could look at a car that her friend was selling. Turns out I loved it...and bought it. It's cute, I love it and my friend Nadia and I are getting ready to go out there tonight to pick it up tonight...I'm pretty excited about it! (Side note...I just got back from picking up the car and I can't even describe how much I love it already! First of all, I'm in love with the fact that I have a sunroof...the car runs REALLY well A-N-D, when I got back to Tampa from Tarpon Springs I filled up the gas tank, which was fairly close to empty, on $33! Super exciting! Especially since my Avalon was costing me approximately double that amount any time I filled up from nearly empty!)
Alright, that's all I have going on at the moment...I'm sure I'll write again in another few weeks!!! :)
XO,
me
